2022 Chien Violet Organic Shiraz
$35.00
THE NAME
“I named my wine range ‘Rusty Mutt‘ because I was born in the Year of the Metal Dog in Chinese astrology. I then ‘Australianised’ Metal Dog to Rusty Mutt.”
“I am thrilled to introduce my first fully organic Rusty Mutt wine! The grapes come from a certified organic vineyard called ‘Wit’s End’ in McLaren Vale. This vineyard is renowned for its bright red fruits and violet floral notes, which inspired the name ‘Chien Violet‘, meaning ‘Violet Dog’ in French.” – Scott Heidrich (Owner / Winemaker)

TASTING NOTES
“Incredibly youthful vibrant purples with depth and intensity. With time in the glass, aromatic red berry fruits and this vineyard’s hallmark violet floral character grows in intensity. Sweet and savoury Teriyaki notes fill out this complex aroma. Forget any preconceived ideas you may have about organic wines. This is a McLaren Vale Shiraz first and foremost. Bright fruit, dark chocolate texture and a savoury meat umami flavour that leaves you wanting more. The tannins are young but surprisingly smooth, which roll to the perfectly gentle acidity on the finish.”

Lovely. Unfortunately the three bottles evaporated too quickly…I should’ve bought more! It is a very easy-to-drink Shiraz, light and delicious. Highly recommended!
